Nanjian has a profound cultural heritage, most representative of which is the Yi Nationality's 'Tiaocai' (Dance Cuisine) in Nanjian. This is a folk art integrating dance, music, costumes, and cuisine, and was inscribed on the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection List in 2008. Nanjian is also named 'the Hometown of Chinese Folk Tiaocai Art'. You can appreciate this primitive enthusiasm and power at the 'Tiaocai Village' or the Creative Park in the county town. In addition, it is an important passage of the Ancient Tea Horse Road, preserving historical imprints of ancient post stations such as Hu Street.
