The Dali March Fair (Sanyuejie) Ethnic Festival is a millennium-old gathering at the foot of Cangshan Mountain. Since the Tang dynasty, the market opens on the 15th day of the third lunar month — "One fair through a thousand years, a thousand years in one fair." Horses race in the dust, folk songs echo under old trees, and indigo-dyed cloth scents the air. Herbs, mules, and traders from all directions meet here. It is more than a market — it is the annual reunion of the Bai people and the diverse communities of western Yunnan.
